Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh cranberries

  • 2 large oranges

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

Instructions:

  • Prepare the ingredients:
    Rinse the cranberries and discard any soft or damaged berries. Juice the oranges and set the juice aside.

  • Combine in a saucepan:
    In a large saucepan, add the cranberries, orange juice, cinnamon stick, water, and sugar.

  • Cook the sauce:
    Place the saucepan over low heat. Cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens into a rich sauce.

  • Cool and store:
    Remove the cinnamon stick and allow the sauce to cool completely.

  • Refrigerate or freeze:
    Transfer the cooled sauce to an airtight container.

    • Refrigerate and use within 1 week.

    • Freeze for later use and thaw before serving.

    • Use as a glaze for chicken, pork, or salmon

    • Fill cookies or pastries, or swirl into muffin batter

    • Stir into sparkling drinks or holiday cocktails
